Which are the most common column types for ion exchange columns?

Columns for ion exchange can be based on silica or organic polymer.
Silica based columns cannot be used in a supressed system because of the high pH values of the used eluents. Columns based on silica are not able to be operated above pH=7,5.
Polymer based columns for ion exchange are able to withstand even more basic conditions. A polymer based separation column is the only ption for supressed anion chromatography.
