Vitamins are divided into two different groups: water-soluble and fat-soluble. The fat-soluble vitamins are A, D, E and K – the water-soluble vitamins are vitamin C and the vitamin B complex. Based on their different chemical properties, they are usually analyzed using different methods and modes. Reversed phase HPLC is very common for the water-soluble vitamins whereas normal phase mode is often applied for the fat-soluble vitamins. Nevertheless, it is possible that the analytes can occur in the same matrix. For this reason, a simultaneous determination of both water- and fat-soluble vitamins was developed in this work, resulting in a reduction in solvent consumption and total analysis time.
