KNAUER Osmometers: Applications, Specifications & RFQs

KNAUER instruments offer convenience without compromising on precision, so you can focus on improving your performance parameters in the pursuit of various objectives. Whether you are developing new formulations or assessing the composition of solutions, our osmometers are optimized for your requirements.

At KNAUER, we design and manufacture high-end osmometers that forefront ease-of-use and reliability. This ensures that all operators truly own their instrument, enabling greater functionality throughout the osmometer’s service life.

Our latest osmometry product is the K-7400S, a robust freezing point osmometer that is rigorously optimized for a wide range of applications. In this article, we will briefly outline the applications and specifications of our K-7400S osmometer, before offering insights into pricing.

Freezing Point Osmometry: Applications

The freezing point depression method is the number one osmometry technique for measuring the osmolality of a myriad of different types of colloidal systems. It serves a key purpose in biotechnology facilities, clinical settings, as well as food and beverage laboratories.

At KNAUER, we have used freezing point osmometers to determine the osmotic strength of both isotonic and non-isotonic drinks according to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) standards. We have also demonstrated the use of osmometry in the quality control (QC) of pharmaceutical formulations.

K-7400S Osmometer: Specifications

The K-7400S is a standalone semi-micro osmometer with a simple user interface offering full control of all the instrument’s functions via a single keypad. It has a small and robust form factor, weighing just 4.5 kg with dimensions of 160 x 180 x 340 mm.

From a performance point of view, the K-7400S osmometer excels with an osmolality range of 0 – 2000 milliosmoles per kilogram (mOsmol/kg) and an outstanding resolution of 1 mOsmol/kg. Test results can be acquired in the space of just two minutes for samples in the range of 50 – 150 microlitres (µl).

Osmometer RFQs from Knauer

At KNAUER, we refer to the K-7400S as our care-free osmometer solution, which means it is a convenient instrument from unboxing right through the measurement and analysis. Contact a member of the KNAUER team today for a quote on your new K-7400S osmometer.
